Taco Bell wanted to connect to their Hispanic consumers in a way that showed they understood them.

This idea won the pitch.

Old traditions don’t always match what the younger generation is doing. So if you want to change things up, you first have to ask the gatekeeper of tradition for permission—the abuela.
